What makes Honey Glazed Pork Chops so delicious?
Pork chops and honey are a match made in heaven. This recipe is balanced out perfectly with just the right amount of savory and sweet from:
- Minced garlic - This ingredient really gives the honey glaze a lot of savory, aromatic depth. Don't like garlic? You can leave it out and add in some herbs instead such as sage, thyme, parsley, or rosemary. Try up to 1-2 tablespoon of any combination of these herbs.
- Melted butter - This gets the pork chops nice and golden brown, but later it also adds a luscious buttery element to the sauce.
- Honey - This of course is where the sweetness in the recipe comes from, and it also makes the sauce sticky.
- Apple cider vinegar - This gives the sauce a touch of acidity, bridging the gap between sweet and savory.
- Cayenne pepper - This gives the pork chops a touch of heat and depth. This recipe is not spicy at all. If looking for heat, you will need to add ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper, depending on your tastes.
- Sage - A classic herb that is often paired with pork. Adds an herbaceous note. A little goes a long way.
This recipe has an option to add in a splash of apple juice if you want a hint of apple and a touch more sweetness.

Ingredients
Pork Chops:
- Boneless pork chops (thick cut, about 1-inch or more) I prefer to buy the whole pork loin on sale, cut them myself, and freeze the remaining portions. It's even cheaper this way.
- Butter + neutral cooking oil
- Minced Garlic
- Paprika
- Ground sage or dried sage leaves, optional
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh chopped parsley for garnishing You can skip this if adding sage
Honey Glaze:
- Honey
- Warm water or apple juice
- Apple cider vinegar
- Cayenne pepper
- Salt

How to make Honey Glazed Pork Chops:

- In a small bowl, combine paprika, ground sage or dried sage leaves (if using), salt, and pepper. Drizzle the pork chops with 1 tablespoon cooking oil and equal amounts of the spice mixture. Rub the seasoning and oil into both sides of the pork chops. Set aside.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or frying pan with 1 tablespoon of cooking oil over medium-high heat.

- Meanwhile, in a medium-sized bowl, add all of the ingredients for the Honey Glaze and stir to combine. Set aside.

- Once the pan is hot, add 1 tablespoon of butter. Sear the pork chops on each side until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. The pork chop should release from the pan once it's ready to be flipped. If it's not releasing, give it another minute or so. If using thicker than 1-inch pork chops, you may want to check the internal temperature of the pork chops. If still lower than 130, you may want to place them in the oven for a few minutes.

- Turn the heat down to medium-low, push the pork chops to one side of the skillet, and add in the remaining butter. Add the minced garlic and saute for 10-30 seconds or until golden brown. Immediately add in the Honey Glaze and stir. Allow the glaze to simmer and reduce into a thicker syrupy consistency, about 3 to 5 minutes.

- Frequently spoon the glaze over the pork chops. The glaze should become amber-brown and syrupy when ready. Turn off the heat once the glaze is syrupy and the internal temperature of the pork chops read 145 F. Sprinkle over the fresh chopped parsley if using.

- Serve.

Equipment
All you need to make this recipe is a cast iron skillet or large frying pan.
Storage
These pork chops are best served fresh. You can store leftovers in the refrigerator in a covered container. Be sure to save the honey glaze in the pan, as this will help keep the leftover pork chops moist. To reheat pork chops: Steer clear of the microwave, it will suck every last bit of moisture out of the pork chops and make them dry. It's best to cover pork chops with foil and heat them in the oven at 350 F. Allow to warm through for 8-10 minutes.
Notes
- This recipe has an option to add in a splash of apple juice if you want a hint of apple and a touch more sweetness.
